Art based on the book Dune by Frank Herbert. Dune is one of my favourite books. It was also made into a film by David Lynch, which generated many powerful quotations. One of which is "The sleeper has awakened". It refers to the protagonist, Paul Muad'Dib, realising his potential as a powerful leader and possible messiah of the desert nomads of Arrakis, the fremen.

Arrakis is the only place one can obtain spice, which is vital for long distance space travel among other things. Prolonged contact with spice brings about changes in the human body including bright blue eyes.

This is the first airbrushing I've done for a while, I'm pretty happy with it too. The right side of the face and the hair is a bit dodgy but I like the varying saturations and the overall effect.

"Arrakis, DUNE, desert planet . . ."

I thaught the costumes in that film were exelent (especialy the emperial guards) but overall a let down by lynch's standards
I liked the still suits myself. I think Lynch pissed away too much of his budget at the start of the film, but I think only he could make Dune in a way that had the right atmosphere.

Awesome book, okay film.

I like this, I wish I was capable of airbrushing/digital painting.
